Hello Lakeshore Families,
We are looking forward to another great week at Lakeshore. Here are the current updates for you:
Food Bank Drive
Our Student Council is leading a two-week Food Bank Drive to help this important charity stock up for the holiday season. City-wide reports are that Food Bank stock is low while need is extremely high. Homerooms will compete in dyad teams to see who can collect the most items with the winning team getting special recognition by the Student Council. Please send in items with your child and we will update you on progress.
November BEAR Award Recipients for Excellence
The November BEAR Award recipients were announced on Friday. These students demonstrated Excellence in many areas including academics, extra-curriculars, athletics, respect and kindness. Congratulations to all our winners showcased HERE. Next up will be BEAR Awards for Ambition.
Club Offerings
Lakeshore offers a wide range of club offerings which help to keep things fun during the long winter months. Several clubs are up and running and are currently listed HERE. Students are informed of clubs through announcements and on our Club Board just outside the office. Many are open to all students, and we encourage you to talk with your child about ways to get involved at Lakeshore. We are thankful to our staff who volunteer their time to make these opportunities possible.
Human Sexuality Forms Due
Our PE / Health team is managing submission of hard copy forms requiring opt-in for the teaching of sexual health. In order to plan and prepare, we require a form from each student at Lakeshore School. If you have not submitted your form, please do so directly. If your child has not provided you with the form, they are available on our website HERE. These need to be submitted no later than Friday, December 12 and can be submitted in hard copy or emailed to lakeshore@cbe.ab.ca.
Bears Athletics
Wrestling
Good luck to the wrestling team who compete at the division meet this Wednesday. A detailed message was sent to all team members.
Volleyball
Drop in volleyball will continue this week for students in grades 7-9 with Girls on Tuesday and Boys Thursday. Sessions go until 3:45 and all skill levels are welcome.
Band Concert Date Set
Our Semester One Band Concert will take place on January 22 starting at 6:00 PM (doors at 5:30 PM). If you would like to secure some premium seats for the concert, you can volunteer for one of our school bingos. If interested, please email lakeshorefundraisers@gmail.com to get set up.
Hot Lunch Options
Options for the last week before winter break on December 15 include Subway, Via Cibo, Donair Grill and Popeyes. You can sign up HERE with listings into the new year also posted. Pizza Wednesdays continue with pizza and bread sticks for $5 – cash or tap.
