Hello Lakeshore Families,

We had an exciting week at Lakeshore last week and are looking forward to more fun this week as we prepare to host our first wrestling tournament. Here are your updates for the week ahead:

Last Year Yearbooks for Sale
Did you miss last year’s yearbook? Thanks to a corrected print run issue from our provider, we now have a limited number of the 2023-2024 yearbooks for sale. The cost is $30 cash or debit payable at the office. Email lakeshore@cbe.ab.ca and we can have one set aside for you.

Lakeshore Presents – Disney’s The Little Mermaid
Last week, our production team unveiled plans for this year’s production which will be the musical Disney’s The Little Mermaid. Audition times are posted outside the Drama room and students interested in seeking a role (on or off stage) are asked to sign up for an audition. We also need artists and front-of-house personnel too, so the production has opportunities for everyone. If your child missed our initial meeting but still may want to get involved, please have them check in with Ms. Taylor, Ms. Cooper or Ms. Beazer.

Lakeshore Athletics
Wrestling
Our Wrestling team attended their first wrestling tournament this last weekend. It was a great first experience, seeing many participants competing in their very first matches. We walked away with 4 girls’ and 5 boys’ weight class titles. This week Lakeshore will host their first ever Wrestling Tournament. BEARMania will run from 4:00- 9:00pm Friday for female wrestlers and from 9:30- 3:00pm Saturday the male wrestlers. Our coaches and wrestlers are very excited, but this is a huge event and we could use some extra hands to make sure it is a success. Ideally, we would see some of the members of the wrestling team giving back to the program by offering their time on the opposite gender day, but this is such a big event we would be willing to take any help. If you are interested or available on either of these days please reach out to Mrs. Clark for further details, agclark@cbe.ab.ca.

Volleyball
Thank you to all the people who responded to the plea for volleyball coaching. Your messages were received, and Mrs. Clark will be reaching out to individuals this week. The response was very heart-warming and at this time it looks like we will be able to again offer the full complement of programs for our students.

A reminder that we are also moving forward with the drop in volleyball nights this week to help prepare our athletes for the upcoming volleyball season. These events are meant to be a fun game play opportunity, and all skill levels are welcome. The days are as follows:

·      Girls: Wednesday December 11 and Monday December 15 from 3-4:00pm

·      Boys: Thursday** December 12 (note date change) and Tuesday December 16 from 3- 4:00pm

Hot Lunch Options
Hot lunch options for the week of December 16 include Edo, Boardwalk Burgers, Avi’s and Jelly Modern Doughnuts. Orders can be placed HERE.

House Cleaning? Have Extra Fabrics / Textiles?
If you’re going through your holiday storage and find that you have some unwanted fabrics and textiles, please consider donating them to our blue recycling bins in our parking lot. We take old towels, clothing, and even shoes and boots.

That’s all the updates for this week. Make your week a good one.

Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
Principal
