Hello Lakeshore Parents,
We are looking forward to welcoming you to the school this week for our Complementary Course Showcase, Bear Fair, and Band Concert. Here are your updates for the week:
Comp Course Showcase / Band Concert
We are celebrating the end of semester one by welcoming everyone to the school on Thursday night for our Complementary Course Showcase and Band Concert. The Comp Course Showcase features the AMAZING work our students have done in these courses. Our business course students will also be running their Bear Fair market. Then, the band students will take the stage to show off their stuff. The evening agenda is:
· 4:30 – 6:00 PM – Comp Course Showcase and Bear Fair (open house style)
· 6:00 – 7:00 PM – Band Concert (gym doors open at 5:30 PM)
Book Fair Week
The annual Book Fair will be set up from Tuesday – Thursday including the evening of the Comp Course Showcase. The book fair features the best current titles for tweens and teens at reasonable prices. All forms of payment will be accepted, including Apple Pay, debit/credit, and cash.
Pay Your Holiday Bills! 50 / 50 Draw Now Live
Our School Council has organized the Tech It or Leave It 50 / 50 Draw with proceeds going to Robotics and new iPads for the school. Please join the draw by purchasing tickets HERE. Draw will take place after the Comp Course Showcase.
Casino Volunteers Needed
The almost-three-year-wait is almost over, and our School Council is gearing up for our first Casino opportunity in March. Please consider joining our volunteer team and visit the page HERE, or contact our Casino Chair via email at lakeshoreparents.comms@gmail.com. We also have regular bingos where we always need volunteers.
Hot Lunch Options
Options for the week of January 27 include Edo, Mary Browns, Donair Grill and Via Cibo. Place your orders HERE. Pizza-on-Demand Wednesdays continue at the Snack Shack.
Bears Athletics
Wrestling
Lakeshore wrestlers had another great showing at the tournament at Tom Baines this weekend. The Divisional meet is just around the corner on Wednesday January 29, during the school day. There is a limited number of practices left; it would be great to see full attendance till the end of the season and we prepare for finals.
Volleyball
Jr & Sr teams have been selected. Information packages will be sent out this week and regular practice schedules begin.
The Prospects team will start practicing this week on Wednesday 3-4:15 pm and Friday 7:15 am. This is a co-ed team that requires a commitment. There will be a large tournament at the end of the season. This team is open for grade 7 students and invited grade 6 students. If students are hoping to develop their skills or just love the sport, this is a great opportunity. Especially for students hoping to make the junior team next year. More than 75% of the girls on the junior girls’ team played on the prospect volleyball team last year!
Grade 6 volleyball club is starting on Wednesday morning at 7:15 am. This club will meet every Wednesday for 7 weeks. This club is open to any grade 6 student, no previous skill required. This is a great opportunity for grade 6's to learn the game.
Make sure you are following Bears Athletics on Instagram for all updates.
Report Cards Available January 27
Semester one report cards will be available to parents starting on January 27. Information on how to access reports is available HERE.
Have a great week and see you on Thursday night!
Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
Principal
