Welcome to 2025! Hopefully, everyone had a fun and relaxing holiday break with family and friends. Our staff are ready to welcome your children back to school this week. Here are your current updates:
Thanks to our Families
Our staff greatly appreciated the many families who contributed to the group baking gift during the last week of school. The treats were delicious, and it was a great way to go into the spirit of the holiday break.
Important Parent Meetings Upcoming
We have some important parent meetings coming up quickly this month:
· Wednesday, January 8 – Edmonton Band Trip Meeting – 5:30 PM at the school
· Thursday, January 9 – Grade 7 Drumheller Meeting – 5:30 PM at the school
· Monday, January 13 – Grade 9 JCS Parent Info Meeting – 5:45 PM at Lakeshore
· Wednesday, January 15 – Grade 7 (for next year Grade 8) SALTs Sailing Trip Meeting – 6:00 PM at the school
Important Deadline – Ticket Purchase for Grade 7 Be Brave Hitmen Game
All of our Grade 7 students have been invited to attend the Be Brave Hitmen game on February 26th. Tickets need to be purchased by Thursday, January 9th – this is a hard deadline, and no tickets will be available after this date. Fees are currently on your child’s PowerSchool account. If you have any concerns regarding the fee or any other questions about this opportunity, please reach out to Ms. Barva (kjbarva@cbe.ab.ca) or Mrs. Clark (agclark@cbe.ab.ca).
Bears Athletics
Volleyball
Senior tryouts will begin this week with the following schedule:
· Senior Boys – Monday, January 6 @ 3 PM, Wednesday, January 8 @ 3 PM, Monday, January 13 @ 3 PM
· Senior Girls – Tuesday, January 7 @ 3 PM, Wednesday, January 8 @ 3 PM, Thursday, January 9 @ 3 PM
· Junior Boys will begin tryouts on January 14th
· Junior Girls will begin tryouts on January 13th.
Wrestling
Wrestling practices will continue on the regular schedule starting on Monday, January 6th in preparation for the upcoming tournament on January 17th.
Hot Lunch Options
Options for the week of January 13 include Canadian Brewhouse, Taco Time, Spolumbos and Popeye’s. Orders can be placed HERE with the entire schedule until end-February posted.
Save the Date – School Council Meeting January 15
Our next school council meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 15 starting at 6:00 PM at the school. We hope to see new and familiar faces.
