Hello Lakeshore Families,
It’s hard to believe, but we have arrived at the month of June – the final month of the school year. Thanks to the parents and students who joined us for our new student open house last Thursday. It was amazing to see so many people out and excited about joining our school. Here are your updates for the week ahead:
Bear Fest – Thursday
Our annual Bear Fest is scheduled for this Thursday starting at school dismissal (2:40 PM) and running to approximately 6:00 PM. All families and community members are invited to attend. There will be plenty of food trucks, games, prizes, and good times. With rain in the forecast, we may have to postpose the event with a possible re-schedule date of Monday, June 15. An email to all parents will be sent on Thursday with event status.
Bears Athletics
Track and Field
The track and field meet is this Tuesday, June 2. The weather is not looking great. If the meet is going to be cancelled, the decision will not be made until the morning. Please check your email before departing, it may not come until 7:30am, even though some athletes need to arrive by 8:00am.
Athletes need to be ready for all possible weather including rain. Light rain will not cancel the event. Having extra dry socks and shoes for when athletes are not competing will help prevent blisters. Raincoats and umbrellas, as well as blankets, are also a suggestion. There is no shelter at the park, but Lakeshore will set up several tents to help kids stay dry, but they need to plan to stay warm.
Students not participating in track should be at school that day. Non-participating students cannot be dropped off at the park, especially without supervision. The teachers already have 140 athletes they are responsible for.
Football
Good luck to our Junior and Senior football teams who compete in their tournament this Friday June 5th at New Brighton fields. Student spectators are welcome with parent supervision once the school day is over.
Moving? Changing Schools?
If your family is planning to move or change school for the 2026-2027 school year, please email the office at lakeshore@cbe.ab.ca to notify the school of the change.
School Fees
Parents are asked to check you MyCBE account to attend to unpaid school fees.
Pre-Register for 2026-2027 Transportation
Students who will be at Lakeshore and eligible for yellow school bus service are asked to pre-register via your MyCBE account by June 14. Registering now allows your address to be considered in designing routes and ensures your child will be able to take the bus on day one. Late registration could mean your child is unable to ride the bus until processed, which could take up to 6 weeks. More information is available HERE.
June Attendance
With the summer months upon us, we know that many families have alternate attendance plans for their Lakeshore students. We kindly ask that you email lakeshore@cbe.ab.ca to notify our office staff of any days away from school.
Hot Lunch Options
Offerings for the week of June 8 include Subway, Fresh Slice, Jugo Juice, and Popeyes. Orders can be placed HERE.
We hope that the rain will stop and that our Track and Field Meet and Bear Fest are able to proceed. Please watch your email throughout the week for updates. Have a wonderful week too!
Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
Principal
