Hello Lakeshore Families,

Happy Father’s Day to all the Papa Bears raising our Lakeshore cubs to be good people and good students. I hope your day is a special one. Here are the updates you need for the week ahead:

Bear Feast Festival Fun
Thanks to everyone who came out to our second annual Bear Feast Festival last Thursday. This is quickly becoming a signature event for our School Council, school, and community. It was great to see everyone having fun and thankfully the weather cooperated just enough. We appreciate the efforts of our Council members, volunteers, and all the local businesses who donated prizes to the events.

Complementary Course Showcase and Band Concert – Thursday
We are looking forward to welcoming our parents back to the school on Thursday for our Complementary Course Showcase, Bear Faire, and Band Concert. Doors will open at 4:30 PM with gym doors opening at 5:30 PM for concert seating. The concert will begin at 6:00 PM. Please plan to join us to celebrate the accomplishments of our students in their complementary courses.

Provincial Achievement Test Week
This will be a big week for our grade 6 and 9 students as they complete their Provincial Achievement Tests. Thank you for supporting your child with preparations and please ensuring they are at school on time so things can run efficiently.

Timetable Change for Test Days
On June 16, 17, 18 we will be adjusting our regular schedule rotation to ensure our students have a chance to visit their complementary courses to prepare for the Showcase and Concert. School hours will not change, and these small tweaks will be communicated to students with no impact to parents.

No Talent Show This Year
Sadly, there will be no talent show for students. We just were not able to fit it into our busy schedule for this year. Instead, we will be hosting a Year-End Assembly and Sports Day with more details to come next week.

Bears Athletics
Football
The football team windup will take place on Wednesday, June 18 after school.

Fees Due
All parents are reminded to log into their MyCBE accounts to settle their fees for the school year. Fees are essential to the continuation and quality of our complementary course programming.

National Indigenous Peoples Day – Saturday, June 21
Heading into National Indigenous Peoples Day Lakeshore will be renewing our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. Our new commitment will be shared with parents later in the week. Families are encouraged to enjoy the outdoors on the summer solstice and more information about the day can be found on the Government of Canada website HERE.

Hot Lunch Options
The last week of lunches is coming! Options for the week of June 23 include Canadian Brewhouse, Taco Time, Banzai, and Jelly Modern Doughnuts. Orders can be placed HERE.

Reminder – Half Day of Classes on Thursday, June 26
Parents are reminded that the last day of classes on June 26 will be a half day and we will be operating with our Friday hours of 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM with bussing on a similar schedule.

Have a great week!
Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
Principal
