Comps Course Showcase and Band Concert
Thank you to all the families who came out to support our student and school community during our second semester comps course showcase and band concert last Thursday. Our students were so excited to share their best pieces with you, and our business students enjoyed the sales at the Bear Fair. The band students continue to level up and the audience was certainly treated to a top-notch performance. A quick video of the evening can be viewed HERE.

Congratulations Grade 9s!
We want to thank our Grade 9 students for a great year at Lakeshore. Many of this group of students have been with us since we opened Lakeshore at our temporary site and Nickle and have been a big part of our school’s successes. You are all ready for High School. We are looking forward to a fun farewell on Tuesday night.
Staffing Updates for 2025-2026
We are lucky to be welcoming back almost all staff for the 2025-2026 school year. We do have a few staff members off to new adventures:
· Tracey Orr will be sliding into retirement. We are so lucky to have had Tracey anchoring our student services team since our opening. Over the years she has made meaningful connections with many students and families. She will be missed.
· Ryan Mackinnon has made decision to move home to the east coast and will be pursuing a new adventure in New Brunswick. Ryan has been with us since our opening and has taught math / science in grades 7-9. He has also coached many teams and supported our PE programming. Thank you, Ryan, and good luck!
· Stacey Nietmann and her family recently moved north from south Calgary and secured she secured a spot at Glamorgan School. Stacey’s veteran presence has helped establish math /science programming in multiple grades and our foods program. Best of luck, Stacey!
· Maternity leaves for Elisa Charney and Megan Colpitts will continue into next year, and Natasha Ruzycki will be beginning her maternity leave as she and her husband are expecting their first child in July.
· Temporary contract teachers Danielle Stewart and Nick Myatovic will be pursuing probationary contract for next year but a return to Lakeshore is always a possibility.
· We will be welcoming two teachers for next year – Kori Ballantine is joining us from Dr. Gordon Higgins and Kevin Jozsa is coming from Ron Southern.
· A full list of staff and teaching assignments for 2025-2026 will be communicated to all parents in late August with homeroom assignments provided on August 28.
Lakeshore’s Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
In conjunction with National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21st, Lakeshore has renewed our ongoing commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. The commitment, viewable HERE, will help to guide our task design in all grades and courses in the new school year.
Year-End Principal Message
Overall, this has been an AMAZING year at Lakeshore School. Initial indications are that academic achievement is UP, suspensions and issues of serious behaviour are DOWN and we have continued to build an awesome school culture.
The establishment of our BEAR Awards to acknowledge Bravery, Excellence, Ambition, and Respect have provided inspiration for our students to continue to do things right. Our Well-Being Ambassadors and student leaders have promoted our values as positive role models.
Of course, none of what we do is possible without the hard work and dedication of our staff. We pride ourselves in making a safe place for students to succeed by supporting the pursuits and needs of each individual student. What I believe makes our staff special is how they care for our students while also caring for each other.
Finally, we want to thank you, our parents, for sending amazing kids to us each day. We know that we do what we do with your full support and trust. Together, we make a great team.
I wish all our families a safe and happy summer. Best of luck to our grade 9s in high school and we look forward to seeing everyone else back in September. I am proud to be the principal of Lakeshore School. Go Bears!
Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
Principal
