Hello Lakeshore Families, and welcome to June. It’s hard to believe we are entering the final month of the school year. Thanks to everyone who came out to our Open House, Complementary Course Showcase and Band Concert last Thursday. It’s always a pleasure to open our school to our families. Here are your updates for the week:
Bear Feast Festival – June 13
Please plan to join our School Council for the Bear Feast Festival on Thursday, June 13. The event will feature Food Trucks, Water Bucket Dump, Yard Games, Music, 50/50 Draw, and Prizes. The event is scheduled from 3-7 PM and will be a drop-in picnic style community event so bring all your family members.
Register for School Bus Service
If your child will require yellow school bus service next year, please register them prior to June 13. Registering on time will ensure your address is considered when mapping out stops, and will also ensure there are no delays in service to start the year. All information is available HERE.

Track and Field
The track and field meet is this Thursday at Foothills athletic fields, in the same parking lot at McMahon stadium. An email was sent to out to families regarding transportation last week. We have been able to secure one bus that will leave from Lakeshore at 9:15am and arrive at Foothills about 10:00am. If this timing works for your child’s events and you would like your child to be included on the bus list please either complete the survey sent to you or email Mr. Clowes, bdclowes@cbe.ab.ca, so your child can be added to the list. There is space for approx. 42 students and we currently have a list of 30 students. Otherwise, athletes are expected to be at the field for about 9:00am unless they have one of the first events of the day. If an athlete’s event starts at 9:00- 9:20, they need to arrive 30 minutes before their event. There is NO transportation back to Lakeshore at the end of the meet. If you are planning on picking up your student early, please make sure your athlete checks out with a Lakeshore teacher before leaving. In the event a student is sick or injured we do use students present at the meet as emergency subs, so we do appreciate having students be there as close to 3:00pm as possible. A reminder that track athletes need to be ready for all weather, including sunscreen, hats and water bottles. Athletes should have plenty of healthy food to keep them fueled all day long. Kona ice truck will be on-site, however, the other food truck is unconfirmed.
We need one more parent volunteer to make this event a success. If you have your volunteer clearance completed and would love to spend the day in the sun cheering on our amazing athletes, please email Mrs. Clark, agclark@cbe.ab.ca

Indigenous Community Connections
June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, an opportunity to honour the histories, cultures, and resilience of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples across Canada. We acknowledge the contributions of Indigenous peoples to our society, their enduring cultures, languages, and traditions, and their incredible resilience in the face of historical and ongoing challenges. Throughout June, CBE schools and service units will host a variety of events and activities designed to engage students, staff, and the wider community in learning about Indigenous histories and cultures. Staff, students, and families can also spend time in the community celebrating as part of Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary. On Saturday, June 22 Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary will be hosting their Family Day Powwow.
Have a wonderful week!
Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
Principal
