Hello Lakeshore Families,
We just finished a busy week and are getting ready for another. Here are the updates you need for the week ahead:
Rave Reviews for The Little Mermaid Jr.
Thanks to our families and friends who came out to support our student performers last week for our performances of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. The audience for each of the three sold out shows were blown away by the talents of our Lakeshore students. There were smiles all around and memories for a lifetime. Overall, there were 100 students involved in making this happen. Thanks to directors Ms. Beazer and Ms. Taylor, backstage support from Ms. Cooper and Ms. Swan and the front-of-house efforts from Ms. Cameron. We are already looking forward to seeing what next year has to offer.
Bear Feast Fest – Thursday
All families are welcome to attend our School Council second annual Bear Feast Fest on Thursday, June 12. This is community event schedule from 3-7 PM featuring food trucks, games, a live DJ, spin-to-win games and raffle draws. Overall, there is over $7500 worth of prizes available. Please plan to join us, even if you can stop in for a bit. We’re looking forward to visiting with everyone. If you’re close enough to walk or bike, please do.
Lakeshore Day at A+W – Tuesday
Don’t feel like making dinner on Tuesday? Head on over to A+W! Our friends at Auburn Bay A+W are hosting a combo day on Tuesday where $2 from every combo will go to our School Council fundraising efforts.
Curbside Cuts – Last Week
Our families always come through in the last week and we are looking for your support in bringing home our Curbside Cuts fundraiser now entering the final week. There are three easy steps: 1) visit www.curbsidecuts.ca and fill up your cart, 2) at checkout, enter your child’s homeroom teacher and grade (ex. wideman6) which will give you a discount, 3) wait for delivery to your home. So far, Mr. Mackinnon’s class is leading the way in sales.

Bears Athletics
Track and Field
The Bears track and field athletes were in action last Wednesday facing off against some new and familiar rivals at the Foothills track. The competition was intense and put our athletes into a spot where they needed to unlock personal bests to bring it home. When the point totals were finished the Bears ended up bringing home the championship and the coveted overall aggregate title. The overall title was bolstered by victories in overall, girls, and boys grade 6 titles, second place finishes in overall, girls, and boys for grade 7, overall, girls, and boys victories in grade 8, and podium finishes for overall, and girls in the grade 9 division. Every single competing athlete was part of this victory for the Bears and we are so proud of our team and coaches. Way to bring it home! All results are available via the Lakeshore Athletics Instagram account HERE.
Football
The second CBE football tournament took place last Friday and the Bears entered the tournament with targets on their backs after taking the coveted “double” last year with victories in the junior and senior divisions. This year’s tournament featured three times as many teams in the expanded event and both the junior and senior teams breezed through round-robin play with undefeated records. The playoffs also saw the both Bears teams roll into the finals with easy quarter-final and semi-final wins. Both junior and senior teams were in tough in the finals with each game heading into overtime and sadly luck was not on our side with both teams taking home second place finishes. The coaches and parents were entertained with some exciting football and a great run and Lakeshore continues to set the standard for football excellence.
These two events bring our Athletics season to a conclusion. Our athletes continue to show growth and development. Perhaps most impressive is how our athletes represent our school. Thank you to all of our coaches for providing exceptional opportunities in all sports. We remain one of the only schools in the city who offers teams in all CBE Middle School athletics, with developmental teams operating in several sports as well. Thanks to Ms. Clark who keeps our athletics program running and puts our teams in a position to be successful.
Hot Lunch Options
No one likes to make lunches in June. Offerings for the week of June 16 include Subway, Edo, Donair Grill, and Mary Browns. Get your orders in HERE.
Have a great week everyone. See you on Thursday night at the Bear Feast Fest!
Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
