Hello Lakeshore Families,

Hopefully the daylight savings change hasn’t caught too many people off guard. I anticipate a few extra tired tweens and teens to start the week. Here are your updates for the week ahead:

Welcome Mrs. Kouperman!
Monday will be Mrs. Kouperman’s first day at Lakeshore and we are looking forward to welcoming our new Assistant Principal. We are thankful for the support of Mr. McMahon who filled in with us for a few weeks. He had many positive things to say about our school.

Conference Bookings LIVE on Wednesday
Our next round of parent / teacher conferences will take place on March 20 (evening) and March 21 (morning). Booking information will go to parents tomorrow and bookings will go live on Wednesday. Due to the CUPE strike, the CBE has moved all conferences to an online format.

IPP Signature Pages Due
Parents of students on Individual Program Plans are asked to return signature pages to homeroom teachers ASAP.

Spring Apparel Store Coming Soon!
Our much-anticipated spring apparel store will open with a fantastic new spring offering set to join our classic line.

Next School Council Meeting Wednesday, March 19
Our next School Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 19 @ 6 PM. Due to ongoing labour action impacting schools, this meeting will be moved to an online format. If you would like to be able to attend the online meeting, please email lakeshoreparents.comms@gmail.com and a link will be sent to you.

Bears Athletics
Grade 6 Volleyball Club
This club had their final practice last week. It was amazing to see so many smiling eager faces each Wednesday morning. Mastering new skills and showing determination. Congratulations to all the grade 6's who participated.

Prospect Volleyball
This teams’ big end of season tournament is this Friday, March 14 at Lakeshore. We are expecting 8 teams. Players need to make sure they have returned their forms to Ms. Barva and paid their fees online. Just like other volleyball games, we need to restrict spectators to immediate family members due to the current CUPE strike.

Badminton
Badminton is currently scheduled to start on March 31 when we return from Spring Break. Schedules will be posted on Instagram on the athletics account. The season may be modified, interrupted, or canceled due to the ongoing labour action impacting schools. The CBE will be informing schools of any decisions related to athletics.

Supporting At-Home Reading
Our School Learning Commons / library has one of the best collections of pre-teen and teen literature in the city. If you are supporting your child with scheduled reading times at home (all students should be reading 20-30 minutes per day) and want to ensure they have great books to read, please have them check in with Ms. Holly or email her at hoherman@cbe.ab.ca. Ms. Holly will connect with your child and find a just-right book.

Hot Lunch Options
Options for the week of March 17-20 include A+W, Opa, Donair Grill, and Subway. Orders can be placed HERE. Pizza Wednesdays continue with pepperoni and cheese available for $5 (cash or tap).

 Have an awesome week!

Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
Principal
