Hello Lakeshore Families,
Welcome back from Spring Break, and hopefully everyone has had a wonderful week. Thanks to everyone who made the time to visit with our teachers on the Thursday and Friday leading into the break. We received a lot of positive feedback and support from you all and we appreciate it. Here are your updates for the week ahead:
No Classes Friday
There are no classes on Friday, April 3 due to the statutory day for Good Friday. There are scheduled classes on Monday, April 6.
School Planning Survey Results
Parental input for 2026-2027 planning was gathered at the March School Council meeting. Survey results from that meeting are available HERE. Feedback will be considered in decision-making.
Teen Screen Time Struggles?
Lakeshore and our School Council are hosting an evening with the team from Creative Sky Psychology to discuss struggles with screen time. The event will take place at Lakeshore beginning at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, April 15. All students in attendance will receive a free pizza coupon. Please RSVP to Shae Nimmo at sknimmo@cbe.ab.ca so we can anticipate numbers.
Lakeshore Apparel Store is OPEN
The much-anticipated reopening of the apparel store is finally here. Visit the site HERE. Site will close on April 12 for an early May delivery.
Bears Athletics
Volleyball
Congratulations to all our volleyball teams for such successful seasons. Our Senior girls volleyball team brought home Lakeshore's very first volleyball division title.
Badminton
Badminton tryouts start this week. The schedule has been posted on the Athletics Instagram page but in case you missed it:
- Grade 9: Monday 7:00am & Wednesday 2:40- 4:15pm
- Grade 8: Tuesday 2:40-4:15pm & Thursday 7:00am

Athletes need to come to tryouts with proper footwear and athletic clothing. If an athlete cannot make a try-out, it is their responsibility to communicate with the coaches.
Badminton has one big meet at the end of the season. For Lakeshore to be successful, all players must attend this meet and be available for the duration of the event. If you know your child cannot make this commitment, please do not have your child try-out for the team.
Division Meet dates (4:00 - 8:00pm):
- May 5: Grade 9
- May 11: Grade 8
- May 12: Grade 6
- May 19: Grade 7
Football
Lakeshore runs a Junior (gr. 7/8) and Senior (gr. 8/9) touch football team. These are co-ed teams that requires a minimum number of girls. Football has a large end-of-season tournament against other CBE Middle schools on Friday June 5th at the New Brighton athletic fields. This tournament starts during the school day as a field trip but extends into the evening – athletes must be available for the full day.
Tryouts for Football
- Senior (grade 8/9 only): April 13 & 14, 2:40- 4:15pm
- Junior (grade 7/8 only): April 15 & 16, 2:40- 4:15pm
No special equipment is required for tryouts. But athletes should have proper footwear and athletic clothing. All football tryouts are held outdoors.
Football Coaches Needed! If you have football experience and knowledge and would like to be part of this dynamic coaching team, please email Ashley Clark at agclark@cbe.ab.ca to express your interest. The teams will practice twice a week, and coaches need to be available Friday June 5 all day.
