Hello Lakeshore Families,

Happy Victoria Day and hopefully everyone is enjoying their long weekend. Here are the updates you need for the week ahead:

Bravo Drama Team!
Congratulations to our drama team and the student production of Beauty and the Beast Jr. which concluded performances last week. The audiences of the packed houses were treated to incredible artistry on all fronts. We are incredibly proud of our 80 students and dedicated staff members who were able to bring this show to life with passion and expertise. Thanks to all who attended.

Student Services Team Update
Ms. Nimmo has departed in advance of her maternity leave, and we are welcoming Ms. Teri Simmt to our Student Services Team. Ms. Simmt is well-known to our students from her previous role as our Foods and complementary course teacher. As Ms. Simmt transitions to team with Ms. Hopkins in Student Services, we will be welcoming Emily Edwards to our Foods program. Ms. Edwards is a former student teacher at Lakeshore and is a welcome addition to our program.

Student Pickleball Club Starts Tomorrow
Students selected for our Pickleball Club will start play tomorrow after school with the club running from 2:40 – 4:15 PM.

Parents Intro to Pickleball Event – Date Change

This is a free event for families and will go over some of the basics to get you started playing pickleball right away. Cost is free and no experience or equipment is required. Please feel free to email me at itfero@cbe.ab.ca to secure a spot.

Congratulations to our Grade 8 team who won their divisional title at their recent meet. Thanks for bringing another championship home, and thanks to our Grade 6 and 9 teams who competed valiantly. Good luck to the Grade 7s who compete this week.

The junior and senior flag football teams will travel to Mckenzie Highlands School on Wednesday for an exhibition game in preparation for their big tournament.

Track and Field
The track team will be announced to students on Tuesday, and forms will be sent home. The track and field meet is on Tuesday June 2nd and is a full day field trip. A couple volunteers are still needed so if your child is on the team and you have a completed volunteer clearance, please email Ashley Clark atagclark@cbe.ab.ca. The track team photo will be taking place for grade 7-9 on Thursday May 21, at 2:15pm, once the grade 7's return from Heritage Park. The grade 6 photo will be taken this Tuesday due to outdoor school.

That’s a quick update for everyone. Have a wonderful start to your week and we look forward to seeing our students back tomorrow.
