Hello Lakeshore Families,

Happy Sunday, and hopefully you’re finding something fun to do amidst the gloomy weather. Here are your updates for the week ahead:

Open House / Comp Course Showcase / Band Concert – Thursday

We have a big evening planned for Thursday and we hope that you can join us. Families who are new to Lakeshore for next year are invited to join us for 5:00 PM (doors open at 4:30 PM) for an orientation event. Our semester two comp courses will also be on display starting at 5:30 PM. Finally, our band concert will begin at 6:30 PM. The Den will also feature our student Maker Market. We look forward to welcome all Lakeshore families.

June Attendance

We are hoping to work together as a community to improve attendance, lates and absences, for the month of June. Please join us in our commitment to ensuring our students are at school on time through the end of the school year.

Bears Athletics

Badminton results are in. Lakeshore got third place in senior, intermediate, and junior, out of six teams. The grade six team came in second place, missing first place by only 2 points. So close Lakeshore!

Track and field forms were sent home last week. Forms are due back ASAP. We are missing 50/136 forms. If your child is unable to participate please email Mrs. Clark (agclark@cbe.ab.ca) so other students can be given the opportunity. Track and field is a team sport where students earn points for their school according to their placement in events. Those points are added up to hand out division titles so making sure we have three kids compete in each event is important for our success. Also included in the form package was a practice schedule. We ask student to go to a minimum of 1 practice per event they are entered in, including sub positions.

Our Football teams had their exhibition game against McKenzie Highlands cancelled due to a rainout. The game was moved to this Wednesday instead.

PE Updates

As the weather is improving the PE teachers have seen a spike in kids wearing inappropriate footwear. Parents, please check that your child is either wearing runners to school or has runners to change into. This is a safety concern as no one wants to go into summer with injuries. Grade 6 and 7 are finished all health rotations and grade 8 and 9 will be done very soon, so students need to be prepared for daily PE.

School Council Bear Bytes 50/50 Draw

Would you like the chance to start the summer off right while supporting our School Council Fundraising Association at the same time? Tickets are $5 for a single, $25 for 10, $50 for 40, or $100 for 100 - half the proceeds will be contributed to new Chromebooks for our ever-expanding student population, and half will go to one lucky winner! Draw takes place June 21st at 8:00 PM at Lakeshore School. The winner does not need to be present at the draw. Tickets may not be sold to minors. Ticket sales will close at 5:00 PM June 21st. Save the Date – Bear Feast Festival, June 13

Plan to join us on June 13th for a summer family celebration at Lakeshore. There will be Food Trucks, outdoor games, music and much more. The event will start at school dismissal (3:00 PM) and go until the Food Trucks close. It will be a bear-worthy!
