Hello Lakeshore Families,

It’s hard to believe it’s Mid-November, but here we are. Things are moving along well at Lakeshore and we’re looking forward to another great week. Here are the current updates for you:

Thanks for Poppy Fund / Food Bank Donations
Lakeshore students and families showed great appreciation for Remembrance Day with significant donations to the Poppy Fund and/or Food Bank. We will be taking Food Bank donations through the end of the week if you would like to add to our contributions.

School Council Meeting – Wednesday
All Lakeshore families are invited to attend our School Council meeting on Wednesday starting at 6:00 PM in-person at the school. We will review our academic results and preliminary school development plans.

School Pictures are Ready!
Your child’s school pictures are now available! To view them online, please log in to your account at mylifetouch.ca. If you don’t have an account yet, you can create one using your email address. You’ll need your student’s ID number to locate their photos. Important: If you don’t know your student’s ID number, please do not contact the school. Paper proofs containing your login credentials will be sent to your home shortly, allowing you to view the images online. Bonus: All families can also order a FREE digital Pictures2Protect Card—a great way to keep your child’s photo and emergency info handy. Learn more about the Pictures2Protect program here.

Lakeshore Drama Presents – Beauty and the Beast
Our drama team have unveiled plans for their production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and an introduction meeting for students was held last Thursday. All students are invited to participate in cast or crew roles and forms were handed out at the meeting. Auditions for performer roles will take place November 24-26 (please bring forms to the audition). Interested Crew members are asked to return their forms to Ms. Cooper directly. We appreciate the volunteer hours of our teachers to make this opportunity possible.

Bears Athletics
Soccer
We still have many uniforms that need to be returned. If athletes do not return jerseys a replacement fee will be added to the account.

Basketball
Lakeshore is excited to host home games on Thursday Nov 20. All Lakeshore teams will be at home hosting Woodman School. Due to this unique event, Lakeshore students will be allowed to attend all games without parent supervision. The schedule will be as follows: 4:30- Senior Boys, 5:30- Junior Boys, 6:30- Junior Girls, 7:30- Senior Girls. Students are still expected to have appropriate behavior. This invitation extends to Lakeshore students only.

Wrestling
Approximately 75 students expressed interest in being a part of the team this year. Practices will start this week: Monday and Wednesday: All Boys; Tuesday and Thursday: All Girls. Practices are from 2:45- 4:15 each day and Wrestlers are encouraged to bring a change of clothes for practice. The season will run until Dec 10. Please direct questions and inquiries to Mr. Clowes; bdclowes@cbe.ab.ca.

We appreciate the volunteer hours of our teachers to make Bears athletics possible.

Parent Support Needed: Conditioning Coach for Boys Wrestling team
When: Monday and Wednesday starting this week until Dec 4 (total of 6 sessions), Time: 2:45- 4:15 (One 45min workout repeated to 2 different groups of boys). With approx. 45 boys wanting to wrestle this season we need to split the boys into two groups. The junior boys will do mat work upstairs while the senior boys do conditioning work in the fitness room and then the groups will switch. If you are available and interested, please let Mrs. Clark know at agclark@cbe.ab.ca.

Hot Lunch Options
For the week of November 24, selections include Subway, Spolumbo’s, Via Cibo, and Edo. Orders can be placed HERE. Pizza sales continue Wednesdays for $5 (cash or tap) at the Snack Shack.

That’s all the news for this week. We look forward to welcoming families to conferences scheduled for November 27 and 28 with booking information coming your way soon.

Have a wonderful week and thanks for sending great kids to Lakeshore! We are all very proud of our school.

Kind Regards,
