Hello Lakeshore Families,
It’s hard to believe we are in our final week of October. Of course, this is Halloween week. Here are your current updates:
Halloween Dance and Costumes
Our Halloween dance will happen on Thursday afternoon and all students are invited to participate. Alternate, quiet options will be offered to students who may want an alternate activity. Students are welcome to wear costumes on Thursday, but all choices must be appropriate for school and allow full functionality for learning, including PE activities. There will also be a cash-only concession for students. The dance is always a highlight of the year for our students, so we are looking forward to another year of fun.
Last Chance for Discount Yearbooks

Bears Athletics
Soccer
After a week of weather delays, the soccer teams are finally looking at finishing their season with a championship title. The girls won their semi-final game on Thursday 5-0. This week the schedule is as follows:
- Monday: Boys soccer semi-final
- Tuesday: Girls FINAL
- Wednesday: Boys FINAL
All games are at Lakeshore with a 4:30 kick off. Good Luck Bears!
Basketball
This week we are hosting basketball games as well. This will be the only home games this season for all the following teams:
- Jr. Girls play Monday
- Jr. Boys Tuesday
- Sr. Girls Wednesday
Student spectators are welcome to watch the first game of the evening, from 4:30- 5:30, but then will be asked to leave unless they have parental supervision. Lakeshore’s student spectator policy can be found here.
Lakeshore’s Annual Prospect Basketball tournament will be held this Friday Nov 1. Students from grade 6 & 7 have been developing their skills and are excited to test them against teams from other schools. The girl’s tournament will take place at Lakeshore, while the boy’s tournament will be held at JCS High School. Participants need to make sure forms are returned and fees are paid on PowerSchool.
Attendance Reminders
Parents are reminded to email absences or anticipated late arrivals to lakeshore@cbe.ab.ca. At the end of each month, we communicate attendance concerns to parents. These reports are informational in nature and not judgemental.
Preparing for Change in Weather
We know it’s hard to get your tweens and teens to put on a jacket, but it’s time to start making the change. Our students go outside each day at lunchtime and outdoor PE will continue as long as possible. Parents are also reminded that the curbside area directly in front of the school is drop off only, and there is no waiting.
Hot Lunch Options
Offerings for the week of November 4th include A+W, Mary Browns, Donair Grill and Subway. Orders can be placed HERE.
Have a wonderful week!
Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
Principal
