It was a great first couple days at Lakeshore, and our staff and students are already settling into their routines. Here are your updates for the week ahead:
What is the Weekly Update?
Your week update is uploaded to our website and emailed to parents each Sunday (or holiday Monday). The update is designed for consolidated school news and we appreciate the parents who make the time to read and follow along.
Personal Mobile Devices
While Lakeshore has been an Away-for-the-Day policy since opening, we have aligned with with the Calgary Board of Education Personal Mobile Device policy. An update and information is available on our website HERE. Parents are encouraged to review the policy with their student(s).

Calendar Update
We recognize there was a small error on our school hours on our calendar and are working to get this reposed to our website with the change. The dismissal time on Fridays continues to be 12:30 PM.
Student Health Plan
If you have a child who has medical needs, please inform the school via our CBE Student Health Plan form. These can be completed and emailed to Lakeshore@cbe.ab.ca or brought to the office in hard copy. All medication to be kept on-site need to be brought to the school by a parent.
PE Updates
Athletic shoes (runners) are required for all students for all PE classes. Proper footwear should be considered an essential classroom supply just like pencils. If you child prefers to wear Crocs, Birks, or runners they do not want to crease or get dirty, they need to have a second pair at school for PE. Students have PE every day.
Bears Athletics
Lakeshore offers a full complement of athletics, participating in all middle school athletics. If your child is interested in participating in any athletics, you must complete an Annual Tryout Form, which you can submit digitally to agclark@cbe.ab.ca or bring to the PE office in hard copy.
Cross-Country Running
This is one of our two no-cut teams so all students are encouraged to participate. There will be an information meeting on Wednesday at lunch. This team has the shortest season, with only three meets and wrapping up at the end of September, pending good weather. This is an excellent way to improve fitness after a long summer away from sports and prepare for upcoming tryouts. Student are able to compete on both cross country and soccer or basketball at the same time. The more runners we have on this team the more successful Lakeshore can be. Head Coach: Kristi Barva- KJBarva@cbe.ab.ca.
Soccer
Girls and Boys soccer tryouts will start on Tuesday Sept 3, from 3:00 – 4:15pm. The girls team will meet on the Lakeshore fields and the Boys team will meet on the Prince of Peace fields. If players have cleats and shin guards they are encouraged to bring them, but these items are not required until students have made the team. All students trying out need to be dressed appropriately for soccer, students are welcome to bring a change of clothing and use the school change rooms. All students trying out must have a completed annual athletics tryout from. Further information can be found on the athletics Instagram account, @lakeshoreathletics.
