Please Update Student Demographic Forms
Each year, families are required to update their demographic information which is done via your MyCBE account. Please refer to the information HERE and our office staff will also be sending out reminders and updates in the days ahead.
Student Health Plans / Emergency Response Protocols
Parents of students with medical conditions of note should prepare, sign, and submit a Student Health Plan. If the health condition may require an emergency response, parents are also asked to submit an Student Health Emergency Response Protocol Form. These can be submitted via email to Lakeshore@cbe.ab.ca or in hard copy to the office. If your child requires emergency medication at school, we ask that parents provide directions on the protocol form and provide the medication to the office.
Bingo Volunteers Needed
Our School Council Fundraising Committee is actively seeking volunteers for our upcoming Bingo on September 27. This is a non-smoking environment, and you do not need volunteer clearance - you just must be 18 or older to participate. Please consider signing up online HERE. If you have questions, you can reach out to us at lakeshorefundraisers@gmail.com.
Volunteers Needed
We encourage and appreciate all parent volunteers with our primary need being for support with field trips. Prospective volunteers must have a valid Police Information Check and must submit an Annual Volunteer Form. Forms can be submitted via email to Lakeshore@cbe.ab.ca or in hard copy to the office. If you required support with your PIC, please check in HERE. You can also email our office for support.
Entry Doors
Students in all grades have designated entry doors in the morning and in Grades 7-9 upon return from lunch. Grade 6 students will enter through the front doors. Grade 7 students will enter on the back compound doors. Grade 8 students will enter through the Sport Court doors, and Grade 9 students enter via the Southwest doors near Auburn Glen Heights. Whenever possible, we ask students to use their designated doors.
Home Study
Our teachers are preparing to offer students and families a Home Study option for the purpose of building positive work habits, establishing connecting between school and home, and strengthening understanding and mastery of curricular concepts. Details will be relayed by core teachers and discussed at the Meet the Teacher event.
Walking Field Trips
Our staff may take our students on off-site walking field trips such as community walks. A general information notice about these trips is available HERE.
Lunchtime and Inclement Weather
Grade 6 students registered in our lunch program are supervised at all times. Students in Grades 7-9 are always welcome to stay indoors to eat their lunch in The Den. Each day, our supervisors and school admin monitor the weather for rain, cold, or weather quality. Whenever possible, students will be going outdoors so students should be prepared for all conditions – this includes light rain. Students in Grades 7-9 who make the choice to leave campus at lunch will not be able to re-enter until 12:41 PM.
Extra-Curricular Club Offerings
Our teachers and staff offer several club opportunities. Students are asked to check the Clubs Board by the office and listen to regular announcements. Our Get S.E.T. Club for extra homework and study skills enhancement is set to begin again this Tuesday at lunchtime in the Learning Commons.
E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety
Electric bikes and scooters have been getting a lot of attention in our communities, and we want to do our best to ensure safety, awareness, and lawful use. Here are a few City of Calgary bylaw notes:
· Helmets are required of all riders (manual and all e-bikes and e-scooters)
· E-Bikes and E-Scooters are considered “legal” if they are less than 500W, have a maximum speed of 32 KM/H, and have functional pedals. No licence is needed if the vehicle meets these requirements.
· Throttle-only models are restricted or not permitted on pathways and multi-use areas
· Legal E-Bikes and E-Scooters are permitted on pathways at 20 KM/H.
· There are potential penalties for E-Bikes and E-Scooters which may be considered “illegal”. The City of Calgary info is HERE.
· At Lakeshore, students will walk their E-Bikes and E-Scooters while on school property
Thank you for doing all you can to support student safety and responsible behaviour.
