Hello Lakeshore Parents,
Last week finished on a high note with a big Team Canada win, the return of warmer weather, and the announcement of a new Assistant Principal for Lakeshore. This week, the good times keep rolling. Here are your updates for the week ahead:
No Classes for Students on Friday

Pink Shirt Day – Wednesday!
This Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day and we ask all students to attend school in pink. Pink Shirt Day promotes kindness and our school focus of showing care and respect for each other.
Anxiety and Well-Being Event a Success!
Thank you to our Lakeshore student and parents who came to our School Council’s Anxiety and Well-Being event last Wednesday. Our presenters, Brittany and Brynlee Harper, Connie Jakab, and our own Tracey Orr and Melissa Hopkins, was well-received by those in attendance. If you require support in any areas, please reach out to Tracey or Melissa from our Student Services team with inquires, questions or concerns.

In addition to welcoming Ms. Kouperman, we would like to announce that Louise Piche has moved from the Lead Lunch Supervisor to the Office Secretary position. We will also be welcoming Julie Bailey back to Lakeshore as our Lead Lunch Supervisor.
Complementary Course Guide Release – Monday
The 2025-2026 Lakeshore Complementary Course Guide will be sent to parents on Monday. The action required of parents of students in grade 6-8 will be to review the course guide to assist students in selecting their courses for next year at school during the following week. Stay tuned for that message.
Individual Program Plan Updates Coming Tomorrow
February updates for IPPs are going home to parents tomorrow. These need to be reviewed and signed under second review date with signature pages coming back to the school before end-day on Thursday.
Casino – Volunteers Desperately Needed
Our casino desperately needs to round out our volunteer compliment with countroom staff for Friday, March 14 (1 needed), and Saturday March 15 (4 needed). We also need several backup volunteers. Our casino is the top fundraiser for our School Council and there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes. Dinner is provided. Please sign-up HERE.
Quick Survey – Casino Funds
Our School Council has devised a quick, 2-minute survey to assist in allocation of casino funds. Please complete the survey HERE.
Bears Athletics
Volleyball
Congratulations to both the Senior volleyball teams who had a great showing at tournament this weekend. The boys battled hard to a third place finish, and our girls lost in a close final match taking home silver.
Prospects Volleyball – This team had Acknowledgement of Risk forms sent home this week and the team fee will be added to PowerSchool shortly. The Prospect tournament will be on Friday March 14. Forms need to be returned to the coaches as soon as possible.
Grade 6 Volleyball Club – Due to the majority of grade 6 student going to outdoor camp this week, Grade 6 Volleyball club is cancelled for this Wednesday Feb 26. The next and final practice for this club will be on Wednesday March 5. It would be wonderful to see all the participants there for the final day.
Grade 7 – Be Brave Hitmen Hockey Game - Wednesday
On Wednesday, Grade 7 students will be going to the Hitman Be Brave Hockey. This is part of the Pink Shirt Day initiative. Participating students will receive their Pink Shirts on Wednesday morning before loading the buses. Please remember that this is a school event and the away for the day policy will still be in effect. Buses will leave the school at 9:30 AM. Any student not participating or arriving at the school after this time will be sent to alternative grade 8 or 9 classrooms with schoolwork packages from their teachers. Parents, please keep in mind that the Saddledome is a cashless environment so if students are looking to purchase concession items, they will need a tap option.
Grade 6 – Outdoor School
Our participating grade 6 students and teachers are looking forward to Outdoor School this week and thankfully the weather looks promising. Please stay-tuned to messages from your teachers regarding drop-off plans on Tuesday and alternative procedures for students not attending.
Hot Lunch Options
Options for the week of March 3-6 include Wayback Burgers, Subway, Avi’s Shawarma and Mary Browns. Place orders HERE.
Thank you and have an amazing week!
Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
Principal
