Hello Lakeshore Families,

Happy Thanksgiving weekend and I hope you’re enjoying a wonderful weekend with family and friends. Here are the updates you need for the week ahead:

No Classes for Students – October 19
Monday, October 19 is a Calgary Board of Education system-wide professional day. There are no classes for students.

Individual Program Plan Signature Pages Due
IPP students were provided hard copy plans on Friday and these should now be in the hands of parents. Signature pages are due back to the school on Tuesday and these can be returned directly to the office or to your child’s homeroom teacher.

School Council Meeting – October 21
All parents are invited to our next School Council meeting which will take place on Wednesday, October 21 at 6:00 PM at the school. If you have any questions about our School Council, please feel free to reach out to our executive at lakeshoreparents.comms@gmail.com.

Jacket Racket
The Lakeshore student GSA is leading our annual Jacket Racket initiative. Now that the white stuff has us digging out warmer clothing, please consider donating any old winter jackets, snow pants, hats, and gloves / mitts. We will ensure your donated items get to a needy family.

Bears Athletics
Wrestling
The Bears Wrestling team starts operation this week. Lakeshore has a large team focused on providing athletic opportunity and development. This is a NO CUT team, so anyone that wants to participate will be on the team. There is an information meeting on Tuesday at lunch with practices to start on Wednesday. Girls practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays with Boys practicing on Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you have any questions about Wrestling, please contact Coach Brandon Clowes at bdclowes@cbe.ab.ca.

Online Well-Being Sessions for Parents
The CBE is partnering with Recovery Alberta to provide sessions that support a variety of topics of interest for Middle School parents. Topics include Some of the topics being covered include Technology and Mental Health, School Avoidance, Understanding ADHD in Girls, Vaping, and more. You can get more information HERE.

Hot Lunch Options
Selections for the week of October 20 include Subway, A&W, and Opa. Orders can be placed HERE. Pizza is available on Wednesdays with no pre-order required for $5 cash or tap.
