Update to Parents - Week of October 23, 2023

Hello Lakeshore Families,

Life is rolling along at Lakeshore as our students are settled into fall routines and aware of expectations. The building is active from 7 AM – 5 PM daily and it’s great to see. Here are your weekly updates:

Cold Weather Coming

A quick look at the forecast will show that change is on the way. Middle School students don’t always make the best choices in dressing to keep themselves warm, so please work with them to dig out the winter wear so they are ready.

Yearbook – Early Bird Deadline

The 2023-2024 Lakeshore Yearbook early bird deadline is closing at end-October. Order yours for $25 with the ability to personalize your book for an additional $7. Get yours now at the link HERE.

Course and School Fees

Kindly check your child’s MyCBE account to address any outstanding fees. This includes fees for athletes competing on our fall athletic teams.

Halloween Dance – October 31

On Halloween, Lakeshore will be hosting a school dance in the afternoon during the last 2 periods of the day. Students who do not want to attend the dance will have the option of going to a games room or a homework/ quiet reading space. If students would rather play board games they are welcome to bring one from home but the school takes no responsibility for lost or broken pieces. The dance is free for students to attend and costumes are welcome. There will also be a concession with items ranging from $1-$2. Students with the support of families are asked to consider costumes that are culturally appropriate and at-home in our kind, caring, safe and inclusive environment.

June 2023 PAT Results for Gr. 7

Last week, the June 2023 Provincial Achievement Test results for test written in grade 6 were sent home in hard copy to current year grade 7 students. Please check with your child for their results which were sent home in an envelope. Results for former grade 9 students now in grade 10 will be sent home by their high school.

Girls Soccer Update

The Girls Soccer team will play their final game of the season on Monday at 4:30 PM at MidSun School. Weather will be monitored closely. If they game is postponed / canceled, the team members will be notified via announcement during the day. Team members are also able to check in with their coaches for any updates.

PE Reminders

With the weather stating to turn, just a reminder that PE classes will continue to go outside in temperatures up to -20. Please ensure that if your student is doing an outdoor unit, they are properly prepared so they can be successful.

That’s it for this week. I would like to say thank you to all of our families who say kind things about our school in the community. We are very proud of our school too, and look forward to creating great experiences for our students each day.

Have a wonderful week!

Kind Regards,
Ian Fero,
